Additional profit depends on a useful upgrade that customers value and a clear understanding of product, installation and support costs.
Customers buying a water pump usually compare flow rate, head, power and price. But daily use raises another question: do they have to walk back to the switch every time they start or stop the pump?
For pump dealers, this operational need creates an opportunity. Adding a remote switch to a compatible pump system can extend a pump order into a package that includes remote operation, installation, commissioning and user training. Customers gain a more convenient way to operate their equipment, while dealers can earn additional product and service revenue. Actual profit depends on selling prices, purchasing costs, installation work and ongoing support.
Offer remote control alongside a new pump
When discussing a pump purchase, ask where the customer normally works and how far that location is from the switch.
Someone irrigating a field may benefit from a handheld remote if they repeatedly return to the pump house. A manager who regularly leaves the site may need a 4G solution that allows phone control.
Quote the basic pump package and the remote-control upgrade separately so customers can see what the additional price buys. Explain where they can operate the pump, whether a network is required and how they will use the system after delivery.
The controller, compatible accessories and agreed installation work can each be included in the quotation. This adds profit only when the customer values the upgrade and the additional revenue exceeds the additional costs.
Give existing customers a reason to upgrade
A customer does not necessarily need a new pump to benefit from a different control method. If the existing pump works properly and its supply and control circuit are suitable, a remote-control retrofit can be assessed without replacing the entire pump.
During maintenance visits or follow-up conversations, ask about repeated trips to the pump house, operation from several working positions, scheduled running or phone control away from the site.
Collect the pump nameplate, photos of the existing control cabinet and information about the installation environment before recommending a solution. The value of a retrofit is solving a new operational problem with existing equipment; it is not a claim that every pump can be connected directly.
Match HT-9220KG or HT-2401G to the customer's needs
HONEST HT-9220KG suits customers who mainly operate near the site and want handheld start/stop control. It also retains a button on the receiver. Select the configuration according to working distance, pump-house walls, terrain and antenna arrangement. Open-area reference distances do not guarantee the same range in every installation.
HONEST HT-2401G suits customers who need phone control away from the site, timer and cycle functions, or shared management. The overseas version connects through 4G and is operated with the HONEST-IOT App. Both the controller and phone need usable network access for remote phone operation. A configuration with a handheld remote is available when local handheld operation is also required.
The overseas HT-2401G includes one year of data service. Customers can contact HONEST directly to renew it. Configured timer and cycle tasks continue during a network outage while the device remains powered.
Identify the customer's operating requirements before recommending a configuration. Clearly explaining local control and phone-management options helps customers understand differences in package pricing.
Define installation, commissioning and training services
Depending on their capabilities, dealers can offer site assessment, installation planning, professional installation, initial commissioning and user training as separate or bundled services. State the scope in the quotation.
For handheld systems, verify start and stop operation from the customer's normal working positions. For phone-controlled systems, delivery can include account and device setup, clear device names, an operating demonstration and the requested timer or sharing settings. Electrical installation should be performed by appropriately qualified personnel, with motor starting characteristics, contactors and protective devices checked.
Service charges should correspond to work actually delivered. A commissioning record, concise instructions and clear after-sales responsibilities can also reduce repeated explanations and misunderstandings. Do not repackage warranty services already promised as compulsory paid extras.
Calculate the additional contribution, not just sales revenue
The number of controllers sold does not, by itself, show how much profit has increased. Include purchasing costs, compatible accessories, freight and import-related costs, installation labour, site visits, commissioning and support.
A useful estimate for an upgrade order is:
Additional product and service revenue minus additional product, delivery and support costs.
This is not the business's net profit: overheads and applicable taxes still need to be accounted for. Include any extra discount offered on the pump package when comparing the sale with and without the upgrade.
HT-2401G data renewal can be an opportunity to follow up with customers and discuss further needs. However, renewal commission should not be treated as established income unless it has been agreed in the commercial terms.
Start with a practical demonstration
A specification sheet may not show customers why remote operation is useful. Prepare a safely installed demonstration system, or document a real installation with the customer's permission.
Show where the original switch is, where the customer works, how the controller changes start/stop operation and which network conditions phone control requires. Demonstrate real results without unsupported range or savings claims.
Before expanding purchases, validate a few representative installations and record upgrade uptake, delivery cost per order, feedback and support issues. Build the product offering around actual selling and service experience.
Discuss a suitable package for your pump business
Remote switches can extend a dealer's offering into everyday pump operation and control upgrades. New-pump packages, existing-pump retrofits and professional services each offer a potential revenue stream. Matching the customer and installation correctly is essential to turning those opportunities into profit.
